Project Details

This project aims to help houseless and marginally housed individuals obtain Ontario health cards to reduce the barriers they face in obtaining health care. Without official documentation, individuals cannot access many healthcare services. This project aims to make the process of obtaining an Ontario health card more accessible and efficient.

Students will conduct research and develop an accessible resource guide that explains the steps and what is needed for homeless and/or marginally housed individuals to obtain Ontario health cards. Any information and/or materials needed to complete the stages of the “how to guide” that are available to the students will be included. This could include precedents of affidavits or other letters, referrals to other organizations, how to access legal aid, among others identified through the research process.

Who can apply?

First-year students are eligible to apply. Experience working within an anti-oppression framework is an asset. Students with experience working with low income, marginally housed populations would be ideal for this project. Student volunteers should also have strong teamwork and collaboration skills.

Information about COVID-19
