Feel free to follow us on social media or contact us if you would like to learn more.

To volunteer with PBSC, please complete the Application Form, which will be available from September 14th at 2:00 PM until September 18th at 2:00 PM.

The link will take you to a centralized form where you can apply to several volunteer opportunities. Please review the Public Interest Volunteer Guide (pdf) for detailed instructions about the entire process.

For the PBSC portion of the form, you will need to rank the top five PBSC projects in which you are interested (learn about our different projects here). You will also need to submit a 500 word statement of interest describing your interest in the PBSC project(s) of your choice, and how your skills and experience are relevant to the project(s). Give this statement a good effort, but please don't feel the need to spend an excessive amount of time over it. We really just want to see a clear and concise account of why you are a good match for these projects. Finally, we will ask you to confirm that you are able to fulfill all of PBSC's basic requirements:

  • Be available to commit 3-5 hours of volunteer work per week from October to March (excluding December)
  • Attend our mandatory PBSC General Training on Sept. 26 from 12:30-2:00 PM
  • Attend a mandatory WestlawNext Legal Research Workshop on Sept. 29th (for 1Ls) from 1:00-2:00 PM or Oct. 2nd (for upper year students on research projects) from 1:00-2:00 PM
  • Complete a pre-recorded PBSC Anti-Oppression Training Workshop prior to commencing your placement in October
  • Complete additional training if required by the project
  • Additional volunteer requirements (attend a check-in call once per semester, log your work via our spreadsheet, complete our end-of-year survey, etc).

If you have any questions about the application process, don't hesitate to contact us!
